RACGP ACRRM

This activity is an online medical education activity that aims to provide education to GPs on the assessment and management of comorbidities and/or complications in patients with T2DM. This online activity will enable GPs to assess risk factors and select appropriate medications to manage comorbidities and/or complications in patients with T2DM.

Learning outcomes


By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • List the screening tools and diagnostic criteria for comorbidities associated with T2DM
  • Review major risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetic kidney disease and heart failure (HF) in patients with T2DM
  • Compare and contrast antidiabetic medications with respect to their impact on comorbidities and complications
  • Select the appropriate class(es) of antidiabetic medication(s) for patients with diabetic kidney disease, liver disease, or HF and explain the rationale for medication choice
  • Identify clinically important interactions involving antidiabetic medications
  • Describe the management of T2DM in older adults, including special considerations for choosing pharmacologic therapies for this population
  • Identify when specialist referral is warranted for diabetes-associated comorbidities/complications

This is an RACGP-approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program for the 2023-25 triennium. It will take approximately 4.5 hours to complete.

ACRRM

This education is a CPD Accredited Activity under the ACRRM PDP Program for the 2023-25 triennium. It will take approximately 4.5 hours to complete.
