RACP

This module covers the pathophysiology of PEI and pancreatic disease, signs and symptoms, details the necessary tests required to carry out an accurate diagnosis and outlines the appropriate management options.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the signs and symptoms that are associated with pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI)
  • Recognise patients who have a higher risk of developing PEI by assessing their lifestyle and their medical history
  • Describe the direct and indirect tests used to assess and diagnose PEI
  • Outline the optimal management of PEI, including lifestyle changes and pharmacological therapies

This education is a CPD-accredited activity under the RACGP CPD Program for the 2020-22 triennium. This activity is designed to take 1 hour to complete.
