General practitioners (GPs) are essential to dermatology care in Australia, playing a key role in diagnosing and managing atopic dermatitis (AD). Beyond moisture - Maintaining the skin barrier in atopic dermatitis highlights the significance of proper AD care in general practice, ensuring timely intervention, continuous care, better patient outcomes, improved quality of life, and potentially reducing or delaying specialist referrals.

Learning outcomes


After completing this education module, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and describe at least three key functions of the skin barrier in relation to atopic dermatitis
  • Apply at least five evidence-based strategies for managing and treating atopic dermatitis in a general practice setting
  • Develop effective patient communication skills to discuss atopic dermatitis and its management with patients and their families
