RACGP ACRRM

Methoxyflurane provides analgesia using a portable inhaler device. It has a role in the emergency relief of pain in patients with trauma, as well as for the relief of pain associated with surgical procedures such as the changing of wound dressings.

Learning outcomes


By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the role of methoxyflurane as analgesia in the emergency setting
  • Discuss the role of methoxyflurane for analgesia for planned surgical procedures
