This activity describes benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), its common symptoms, diagnosis, and reviews management options in patients who are not effectively managed on oral therapies.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
- State the diagnostic and assessment protocols in patients with BPH
- Discuss the appropriate clinical applications of available treatments for BPH
- Discuss preservation of sexual function with patients when deciding on a treatment for BPH
- Identify patients with BPH who require urologist referral.
